Company Information
One of the top pharmaceutical firms in the nation is Torrent Pharma, the flagship business of the Torrent Group. The Company is considered one of the leaders in the therapeutic segments of women's healthcare (WHC), cardiovascular (CV), central nervous system (CNS), and gastrointestinal (GI) healthcare. The Company was a pioneer in introducing the concept of niche marketing in India. Additionally, the company is well-represented in the oncology, gynecology, diabetology, pain management, and anti-infective categories. Torrent Pharma's competitive edge is derived from its top-notch manufacturing facilities, cutting-edge research and development capabilities, vast domestic network, and global presence spanning over 40 countries.
Torrent Pharma's position in the Indian Pharma market was strengthened by the acquisition of Elder Pharma's Indian branded business in 2013, Zyg Pharma's dermatological business in 2015, Glochem Industries' API plant in 2016, women's healthcare brands from Novartis, Unichem's Indian branded business along with its Sikkim Plant in 2017, and Curatio in 2022. In order to break into the German market, Torrent Pharma began making foreign acquisitions in 2005 when it acquired 90-year-old Heumann from Pfizer. Later in 2015, ANDA of minocycline was acquired by Ranbaxy for the US market. Torrent Pharma is dedicated to providing "lifecare, not just healthcare."
The Torrent Group is a force for change committed to improving lives. It was started by the late Mr. U. N. Mehta in 1959 and is presently run by Mr. Sudhir and Mr. Samir Mehta. Mr. U. N. Mehta set off on a journey known as Torrent fifty years ago with the straightforward goal of "Happiness for All" in mind. A visionary medical agent, he went it alone and established specialized marketing as his primary area of expertise. The rest is history, as they say. Torrent truly embodies its name, "Rushing Stream," particularly in the manner it designs life-changing goods and services.
The Torrent Group has consistently concentrated on two essential industries over the years: power and healthcare, without which modern life would be unthinkable. In addition to bringing compassion, happiness, and hope to people all around the world, the Torrent Group also gives people confidence and brightens their life. The Group is dedicated to doing everything within its power during a national emergency and has always placed a high priority on people and society, especially during difficult times. Torrent Group recently said that it will contribute Rs. 100 crores to help the government combat the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on the most fortunate members of our society.
This donation was made to the PM-CARES Fund and in support of a number of initiatives, including the free distribution of necessary medications to government hospitals, relief funds established by state governments, support for non-governmental organizations tackling the COVID-19 pandemic at the local level, provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) to medical personnel, and our own direct efforts to lessen the pandemic's effects on the most vulnerable members of society. In addition to the aforementioned, Torrent Group made sure that all of its workers—including thousands of contract and construction workers working for our contractors—were paid their full salaries during the lockdown, and the Group covered all associated costs.
In order to help the government combat the COVID-19 epidemic and its effects on the less fortunate segments of our society, Torrent Group declared during the pandemic that it will provide support in the amount of Rs. 100 crores. Torrent has a robust infrastructure in place to guarantee that we are always at the forefront of the movement towards a better life, whether it be through the discovery of a cure for deadly diseases, ambitious power generation projects, new standards in transmission and distribution, ground-breaking pharmaceutical discoveries, or the establishment of new benchmarks in EV charging infrastructure, city gas distribution networks, green hydrogen initiatives, cutting-edge pumped storage hydro projects, or round-the-clock customer care initiatives.
